As Remembrance Sunday approaches, the Birmingham Mail believes it is more important than ever to wear a poppy with pride and remember the huge sacrifice our soldiers have made both in the past and during current conflicts.
Throughout the week we will be highlighting just a small number of those whose professionalism and bravery should never be forgotten and whose stories are a reflection of thousands of others who have also died doing their duty.
