Chelmsley Wood grandmother in hospital bed has purse snatched

Her daughter, Angela James, aged 35, added: “It’s disgraceful.”

Hospital director Lisa Dunn said: “We would like to apologise to Ms Upton and her family for any inconvenience caused.

“We take the safety and security of all our patients and staff very seriously. Heartlands Hospital has a dedicated security team on site, with fully trained security officers regularly patrolling both inside and outside.

“We are working very closely with the police to help them with their investigation of this matter.”

A West Midlands Police spokeman confirmed it was investigating.
