Stourbridge gripped by FA Cup fever

Mail reporter STEVE BRADLEY was swept up in FA Cup fever as Stourbridge FC prepared for the biggest game in their history tomorrow.

AT just 21, one Stourbridge ace has already been there, done that and got the T-shirt – twice.

Sam Smith, from Halesowen, joined the Glassboys from Chasetown FC at the end of last season.

He was a member of the Scholars’ team which reached a third round match with Championship side Cardiff.

And at just 17 he was also in the Chasetown squad that played a first round clash with Oldham Athletic.

Now, Sam is the man his team mates are looking to for advice ahead of tomorrow’s match against Walsall. A forklift truck driver by day he said: “The lads have been coming up to me asking if I played before and what it was like.

“You just have to grab it and hopefully it’ll be the right result after the final whistle.”
