Midland schoolboy injured after being hit by car on way home from lessons

A SCHOOLBOY was seriously injured when he was in collision with a car in Sandwell as children made their way home after lessons.

The incident happened in Upper Church Lane, Tipton, near The Westminster School at around 3.30pm yesterday.

The boy, who has not been named but is aged 11, suffered serious leg injuries.

He was given emergency first aid before being flown by air ambulance to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews found a schoolboy who had been in a significant collision with a car.

“The boy suffered serious leg injuries and received emergency treatment at the scene.

“His condition was stabilised and he was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further assessment and emergency treatment.

“The hospital had been alerted to the boy’s arrival and serious injuries.”

A condition check on the boy was not immediately available today.
