Sandwell Council defends decision to fine mother for feeding ducks
"To be fined £75 for taking your child to feed the ducks is an absolute disgrace."
A formal complaint has now been submitted to the local authority and Ms Kelly expects to hear its response within seven days.
In a statement released by the council, Mr Hussain pointed out that Ms Kelly's fine would be reduced to £50 if she paid up within 10 days.
Visitors to the park felt intimidated by the geese, Mr Hussain added, and road-users had complained that the birds posed a danger to motorists as they regularly obstructed roads.
The councillor said: "We are taking this very seriously and we are acting upon these complaints.
"There isn't really a duck population in that area, the geese have bullied them away. Today around 150 geese and about five ducks were counted."
