Bournville allotment holders banned from keeping manure in piles

The pile has now been distributed and moved in to smaller piles away from the home of the complainant.

“The previous occupants of the house never complained,” added the retired medical clerk.

A council spokesman said: “We haven’t said that they can’t have manure, only that it can’t be stored right against the fence in large piles.

“We have had complaints since 2007.

“Residents border the allotments on three sides.

“The abatement order was a last resort for us and we have tried to resolve this without success. We do not believe it is unreasonable.”
