Mum of Sutton Coldfield star Lucy Benjamin speaks of exit from I'm A Celebrity

IT may be the Ender the road for Midland actress Lucy Benjamin – but her mum said she was bursting with pride after she was voted out of the jungle.

Speaking after Lucy was turfed out of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, her mum Jo Baker said viewers had not seen the best of the ex-EastEnders star.

The 39-year-old actress, who spent some of her teenage years living in Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield, was voted off the show on Monday after eight days in the Australian jungle – during which she ate rat as part of one meal.

Jo said she felt Katie Price, also known as glamour model Jordan, had been made the star of the show – to the disadvantage of the other contestants.

“She got on alright with Katie but they focused on her quite a lot and people didn’t get to see the really fun side of Lucy,” Jo said.

“The bits they did show she was always crying.

“I think they were trying to link it with her EastEnders character Lisa Fowler.”

“I have spoken to Lucy and she is absolutely fine.

“I can’t believe some of the things she had to do but she told me she thought the rat was delicious and tasted like chicken.”

Jo said the hardest part of Lucy’s experience was leaving her young daughter Bessie, although she also lost half a stone in the jungle.
