Dog found impaled on Birmingham gate is looking for a home

Spike

A DOG found impaled on railings in Birmingham is recovering and looking to be reunited with his owner or found a new home.

The collie cross has been named Spike by RSPCA staff and is in the charity’s animal hospital in Barnes Hill.

He was found with his leg impaled on a metal gate in Glyn Farm Road, Quinton.

The fire service and RSPCA worked together to free him.

“Spike must have been absolutely terrified,” animal welfare officer Scott Vanes said. “I was shocked when I arrived to see him trapped in this way.

“He was so quiet throughout the rescue and when I transported him to hospital. We are amazed and delighted that he only suffered minor injury.”

Mr Vanes said they did not know if Spike had an owner.

“If we could reunite him with his rightful owner that would be the best ending to this story.”

Calls can be made to RSPCA Birmingham Animal Hospital on 0300 123 8660.
