No further action after Great Barr ambulance crash inquiry

WEST Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed there will be no further action after an ambulance crashed en-route to an incident which ended in tragedy.
Two paramedics suffered injuries after the rapid response vehicle they were travelling in smashed into a concrete pillar.
A man in his 30s suffered head and neck injuries, and a woman, also in her 30s, suffered a suspected shoulder injury and shock.
The incident happened in Queslett Road, Great Barr, on October 31, during an emergency response to a call where a man was trapped under a train at Sutton Coldfield station.
Another ambulance and fire crews arrived at the station within minutes of the 999 call.
Despite life saving attempts at the scene and on the way to the to hospital, the man died from multiple injuries.
A statement from the service said: “West Midland Ambulance Service can confirm that police and internal investigations have been completed and no further action will be taken.”
A spokesman for British Transport Police said the incident was a “non-suspicious death”.
