A SECONDARY school in Birmingham has been rewarded for its work in history by receiving royal recognition.
Small Heath School is one of just 51 schools across the country to have been awarded the Prince’s Teaching Institute’s first Schools Programme Mark.
The award, launched by HRH The Prince of Wales on November 23, recognises and rewards the development of inspirational ideas and activities that enhance the teaching of English, history and science.
The Schools Programme, which is open to all state secondary schools in England, was first announced in November 2007. A total of 73 departments across the 51 schools are the first to be awarded the Mark.
A spokesman for the school in Muntz Street said: “We are absolutely delighted that our work in humanities has been recognised with this award.
“It is a testament to the effort and commitment shown by staff and pupils at the school.”
