A POIGNANT play about people living with HIV or Aids is to be given its first showing at a school in Birmingham.
Entitled Who’s Breaking, the play aims to improve awareness as well as provide a better understanding of the deadly virus and related issues among young people.
The scheme, which is being sponsored by Adullam Homes Housing Association, involves the Birmingham Library Theatre Company touring local secondary schools and further education colleges with the drama, created by award-winning playwright Philip Osment.
The initiative forms part of the Birmingham Living Archive Project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and managed by the Freshwinds care charity based in Selly Oak.
Who’s Breaking is to tour schools and colleges across Birmingham and Walsall, starting with Perry Beeches in Beeches Road, Great Barr, today.
A spokesman for the project said: “The scheme focuses on collecting the history of HIV/Aids in Birmingham over the past three decades.”
Adullam Homes is involved with the initiative through its Adcare Project in Birmingham, which offers non-judgemental support services to those living with HIV/AIDS in the region.
