Former Birmingham City MD Karren Brady turns down Carson Yeung's Porsche 'gift'

FORMER Blues boss Karren Brady has rejected a gift from Carson Yeung – the £80,000 Porsche the club demanded she return.

The dispute over the company car was among a number of thorny issues relating to her controversial £1 million severance package when she left as managing director that so angered Yeung.

The agreement was signed-off by the out-going board before Hong Kong tycoon Yeung completed his £81.5 million takeover.

Yeung ordered the return of the car and blocked a package of perks, including use of St Andrew’s best executive box for a year, free mobile phone, health care and away directors’ tickets.

Brady had the Porsche Cayenne dropped off at St Andrew’s yesterday – and was promptly offered it back.

“The £80,000 club Porsche was delivered back to the club smelling wonderfully,” said Peter Pannu, Blues vice-chairman executive and finance.

“No doubt Karren Brady has got a good appreciation of perfume.

“It was delivered back by a friend. He was told that if Karren liked the car, she could have it as a gift from Carson Yeung.

“It was a matter of principle rather than money. This offer was politely not taken up by her friend. We were thanked for the gesture.”

Blues are still negotiating with Brady and her lawyers about the rest of the ‘golden goodbye’, awarded to her by David Sullivan, David Gold and Ralph Gold.
