Pickpockets jailed after travelling to Scotland to steal

TWO Romanian pickpockets who travelled from Birmingham to Scotland to steal cash from women shoppers have been jailed.

Cunning Marian Stanica and Udila Aurel stood behind their victims in supermarket queues and bank cash machines and memorised their personal identification numbers.

The pair then approached the women in car parks and asked for directions.

While the women were distracted by the ruse, Stanica and Aurel swiped their bank and credit cards.

Jailing the pair at Ayre Sheriff Court last week, Sheriff John Montgomery told them: “I have no doubt that you are practised in the art of pick-pocketing.”

Stanica, 34, and 26 year-old Aurel went to Ayrshire from Birmingham in October. Between October 11 and October 21 they stole from women in Asda, Tesco and Morrisons.
