Stars come out for Birmingham premiere of new 3D movie Avatar
JAMES Cameron’s multi-million pound sci-fi spectacular Avatar had a glitzy Birmingham premiere.
Local celebrities including football stars from Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion were treated to an exclusive showing of the 3D movie at Broad Street’s Cineworld, last night.
Central News presenter Bob Warman admitted he didn’t know exactly what the movie was about before he went in.
“I’m not 100 per cent sure what it’s about but I’ve been told that it’s supposed to be one of the most expensive films ever made.
“This is the first 3D film that I’ve even seen since I was a little child so I’ve been really looking forward to it.”
And he was undaunted by the three-hour runtime of the Hollywood epic.
“If I can sit through a news programme presented by me then I can sit through this,” he joked.
Fans leaving the premiere seemed impressed. Thomas Mitchell, aged 28, from Shard End, said: “I thought it was a real visual delight. It started well and ended well but it was a bit dry in the middle. I thought the 3D made it look surprisingly real. I’d expected it to look a bit cartoony but I was amazed.”
