Brummies set to battle obesity levels in the new year

HUNDREDS of Brummies are set to start shedding pounds for the New Year.
Recent statistics reveal that 77 per cent of the West Midland’s population are now overweight or obese.
And one south Birmingham slimming group is gearing up for the rush by doubling the number of weekly sessions.
Nickie Bennett, Slimming World consultant from Kings Norton, started the group two years ago after she found little success with regular diets. She said: “Dieting is not just about changing what you eat.
‘‘It’s all about getting the support to choose a healthier lifestyle like finding ways to become more active even if you’re not very mobile or don’t like exercise.”
From January 5 Nickie’s group will be held at St Nicolas Place, Kings Norton Green, on Tuesdays at 5pm as well as the usual 7pm session.
