Six hurt in M6 crash as snow fell in Birmingham

SIX people including two young boys were taken to hospital following two separate crashes on the same stretch of the M6 as snow gripped Birmingham.

Three ambulances were initially alerted to a two-car crash northbound between junctions 5 and 6, Castle Bromwich, at 7.40pm yesterday.

As paramedics neared the scene, they discovered a second crash involving a number of cars, about 100 yards behind the initial incident.

At the first incident two women, one in her 40s and another in her 60s who were both passengers in the same car, were taken to City Hospital suffering with chest pains.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said at the second incident, two boys, believed to be aged three and five years, were taken to the Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.

Two casualties from another car were taken to hospital and treated for cuts and chest injuries.
