Three-hour power cut in parts of south Birmingham

HUNDREDS of homes were plunged into darkness when an underground cable fault caused a three-hour power cut across parts of south Birmingham today.

Electricity supplier Central Networks said 1,400 homes in the Moseley and Bournville areas were hit by the blackout between 4pm and 6.45pm. Engineers at the scene tried to pinpoint the fault and restore power. The cut affected domestic properties and street lights.
