Birmingham blogger to document New Year's Eve at Digbeth Coach Station

A BIRMINGHAM blogger will spend her New Year’s Eve documenting tales of travellers arriving and departing from the newly-opened Digbeth Coach Station.

While many of us will find ourselves celebrating the turn of the year in a bar or club, Nicky Getgood will watch others coming in and out of the city.

Earlier this month England football boss Fabio Capello opened the £15 million building and Nicky, manager of the ‘Digbeth is Good’ website, has been full of praise for the new facility. “The new coach station is a big step forward for Digbeth and I wanted to mark the occasion by spending New Year talking to the passengers,” she said.

“I will be gathering tales of their journeys via Digbeth and finding out where they’ve come from, where they’re going to, their reasons for travel and their experience of the new station. I suspect the most colourful tales will be during the loud and lively party season.”

The 31-year-old will arrive at the station at 6pm and remain there until 6am tomorrow. She will be assisted by a photographer who will document the night through various images.

More than three million people pass through the coach station each year.

A spokesman for National Express said: “We’re delighted to have Nicky with us. We have thousands of customers arriving and departing every day, so there will be lots of travellers around to keep her company.”
