Lorry crash causes morning chaos on the M6
THE first rush-hour of 2009 was blighted by early accidents as motorists battled with icy roads on the great return to work.
Long delays were being experienced on the M6 this morning after an incident close to junction four.
Two lorries were involved in an accident which caused a fire. Recovery vehicles at the scene caused the road to be closed around junction four.
Motorists waited up to an hour between junctions six and four on the southbound carriageway.
Congestion has been reported on surrounding roads as a diversion was put in place.
Traffic left the M6 at J4A to take the Northbound M42 to J10 at Tamworth, before taking the A5 to the M69 back around to the M6 at J2 for Coventry.
Normal traffic conditions are not expected to return to normal until later this morning.
