Police appeal for witnesses to M6 toll pile-ups

POLICE today appealed for witnesses to a multiple-vehicle pile-ups on a Midland motorway after two deer ran onto the carriageway.

The incident happened at about 7.30am yesterday between junctions T6 and T5 of the M6 Toll, near Shenstone, in Staffordshire.

Central Motorway Police Group said five vehicles were involved two separate collisions with deer crossing both north and southbound carriageways of the motorway.

One driver was airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital with serious injuries, another driver was also taken by ambulance to Stafford Hospital.

Both the northbound and southbound carriageways were closed for investigations but re-opened later. Both deer were killed on impact

Officers from the Central Motorway Police Group are investigating this collision with the assistance of specialist officers from Staffordshire Police.
