Football fans admit disorder at Birmingham City v Aston Villa derby

Last September, detectives from West Midlands Police handed the Birmingham Mail a number of images of men they wanted to speak to in connection with their investigation.

A number of people handed themselves in within hours of the newspaper hitting the streets.

The nine who pleaded not guilty were: Neville Bailey, 38, of Trinity Road, Aston, Kenneth Wallace, 38, of Wallhouse Road, Walsall, Trevor Chester, 21, of Kennet Grove, Chelmsley Wood, Veron Jourdain, 40, of James Turner Street, Winson Green, Glen Hudson, 26, of Stoneymoor Drive, Castle Bromwich, Daniel Etheridge, 18, of Warndon, Worcester, Barrington Patterson, 44, of Fairway, Nuneaton, John Sims, 39, of Bradford, West Yorkshire and Lee Mayors, 26, of Digby Drive, Marston Green.

They were remanded on conditional bail and are due to face trial in September. The seven who pleaded guilty will be sentenced following the trial.
