THE 148-mile-per-hour British Steam Car team paid a special visit to Goodyear in Erdington to thank the firm for backing it in its successful record-breaking runs.
Staff braved the cold to take a close look at the unique vehicle which took more than ten years to develop and has 12 boilers.
The car broke the land speed record for a steam-powered vehicle with an average speed of 139.843mph over two consecutive runs over a measured mile last year at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
The following day it broke a second record by achieving an average speed of 148.308mph over two consecutive runs over a measured kilometre, driven by Don Wales, the nephew of the legendary Donald Campbell.
The car will be at the Autosport International Show at the NEC this weekend.
