Teenager injured in Wolverhampton shooting

A 16-year-old boy is in a stable condition in hospital today after a shooting incident, police said.

The teenager, whose injuries are not said to be life-threatening, was found with a gunshot wound by an ambulance crew called to an address in Penn Fields, Wolverhampton, at about 10.30am.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said officers were alerted to the incident at 10.45am and sealed off the scene in Owen Road.

Inspector Richard Vickers, from Wolverhampton's Bilston Street police station, said: "We are in the very early stages of investigating exactly what has taken place on Owen Road this morning.

"The victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening at this stage, and inquiries are currently being made to find whoever may be responsible for this attack."

The officer added: "Thankfully, offences like this are very rare in Wolverhampton and we are treating this as an isolated incident at this stage."
