Three more swine flu deaths in West Midlands

A FURTHER three people have died after suffering from swine flu in the West Midlands, according to the latest figures.

The number of people in the region who have died after testing positive for the virus now stands at 40.

But figures released by NHS West Midlands show the number of people admitted to hospital with flu-like illnesses has fallen over the last two weeks.

Some 66 people have been admitted to hospital this week, with a further 14 inpatients being treated.

NHS West Midlands regional director of public health Dr Rashmi Shukla said: “The people of this region should remain vigilant in helping prevent the spread of the virus.”
