Military police hunt Birmingham soldier after racist Facebook pictures storm erupts

MILITARY police were today hunting for a Birmingham soldier who has gone AWOL.

Anthony Phipps, who serves with 3 Mercian Regiment (Staffs), disappeared after pictures of him making Nazi salutes to friends allegedly appeared on his Facebook page.

An MoD spokesman said: “We can confirm an investigation regarding a serving soldier is currently under way and it would therefore be inappropriate to comment further whilst this is ongoing

“However, the Army does not tolerate racist behaviour, and those who fall short of the Army’s high standards will be dealt with appropriately.”
