THE footballing dreams of a Black Country schoolboy came true as he met his favourite Baggies star just weeks before an operation that could allow him to walk.
Six-year-old Jonathon Davis, of Scott Road, Great Barr, was club mascot at The Hawthorns on Tuesday night as West Bromwich Albion beat Scunthorpe two-nil.
Jonathon, who suffers cerebral palsy and is heading off to America on February 27 for an operation on his spine, got to meet all the players, including his favourite – midfield star Graham Dorrans.
“Jonathon is such a brave young boy,” said Dorrans.
“All the players were glad he could be at The Hawthorns to see us win.”
Jonathon’s civil engineer dad, 34-year-old Christian, said: “He was over the moon – he never stopped smiling.”
Jonathon, who uses a chair to get around, goes to the National Institute of Conductive Education in Moseley.
His family and friends have been involved in fund-raising events, including skydives and parties, to help pay for the operation.
