Birmingham chef Glynn Purnell heads judging panel.

MICHELIN star chef Glynn Purnell will help choose the winner of an awards scheme which celebrates the next generation of businessmen in Birmingham.

The head chef at Purnells restaurant in Cornwall Street will chair the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year judging panel set to include Birmingham Post editor Alun Thorne. He will guide the judges in selecting winners from the financial, legal, entrepreneurial, communications, property and construction and recruitment and training sectors, before selecting the overall competition winner. Mr Purnell, who grew up in Chelmsley Wood and made a name for himself as head chef at Jessica’s in Edgbaston, said: “It’s really important to acknowledge and reward people who are doing well.”

The finalists will be revealed next month and the winner will be announced during a glitzy ceremony which will be held at the ICC on Thursday, May 27.
