Pilot of cargo plane forced to make emergency landing at Birmingham Airport

THE PILOT of a cargo plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Birmingham Airport after suffering engine failure in the early hours of the morning.

The pilot switched off one of the engines and made the safe landing around 1am today

Birmingham Airport staff initiated a full emergency and five crews West Midlands Fire Engines were dispatched to the scene on standby.

The were sent away 20 minutes later after the pilot negotiated the landing safely.

It is believed only the pilot and another person was on board.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
