Conductor adds string to bow

A TRAIN conductor is celebrating after passing the Air Training Corps’ Officers’ senior course.

Flying officer Mohammed Aftab works as a senior conductor for London Midland at New Street station and spends his free time managing 2504 Squadron in Birmingham.

The 32-year-old, from Solihull, manages a range of activities for 25 young people, from flying and gliding to marksmanship, adventure training and expeditions.

He said: “It was hugely rewarding to be nominated for the course and to learn about the latest developments in the Air Training Corps. I will always remember being at RAF Cranwell – it is both home of the Royal Air Force and of HQ Air Cadets.”

London Midland commercial director Alex Hynes said: “We’re very pleased for Mohammed. It’s great that he finds time to do work with young people in the community as well as looking after London Midland passengers.”
