Lots of fun at Lord Mayor's Charity Auction

THERE will be no April Fools at this year’s Lord Mayor’s Charity Auction when dozens of top prizes are up for grabs and four charities are guaranteed to be the winners.

The annual bidding battle is at the Council House, Victoria Square, from 6pm on Thursday, April 1, as 60 lots go under the hammer of event organiser Councillor Ernie Hendricks. He said: “I’m sure, people will be coming away with some real bargains because the reserves on all of the lots are really low. We’ve got it all.”

Prizes include a laptop, digital camera, an Xbox, an iPod Nano, a glamorous hair cut with Toni & Guy Hair Salon and Liza Shepherd and three bottles of Westminster whisky signed by party leaders Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg.

Money raised will go towards pancreatic cancer research, the Lord Mayor’s Engineering Scholarships, and charities for the homeless and divadvantaged women. Tickets, available by calling 0121 303 4204, cost £2.50.
