David Cameron has 'no regrets' over taking part in TV leaders' deabte

DAVID Cameron has no regrets about agreeing to take part in the General Election TV debate even though he failed to come out on top, one of his close political allies has revealed.
The Conservative Party leader was judged by opinion polls to have been outclassed by Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg during last week’s first live debate.
But Tory bigwig Francis Maude, the Shadow Cabinet Office Minister, said: “We knew that for the Conservatives, if you are the front runner, there was absolutely no reason why we should have had a leaders’ debate except that you think it is a good thing for democracy.
“That’s David Cameron’s view and he doesn’t regret it for a second.”
Mr Maude was in Edgbaston to support Conservative election candidate, city councillor Deirdre Alden.
