STAFF from Birmingham Women’s Hospital turned into waterbabies in a bid to raise much-needed cash for the £7 million new neonatal unit.
They donned swimming caps, costumes and trunks for a 12-hour swimathon at the Morris Centre Club pool.
Families of patients treated at the Edgbaston hospital also joined efforts to raise money for the state-of-the-art unit which opens in September.
Organiser and neonatal nurse Charlotte King said: “We have had a great response to the swimathon with 29 staff and their families taking part. We hope to raise £1,000 towards the appeal.”
So far, £650,000 of the £2 million target has been raised.
