Pelsall foetus-in-garden find: Man arrested and bailed

A MAN was arrested and bailed in connection with the discovery of a foetus in the garden of a Midland house.

The remains were found at the property late on Wednesday in Huddocks View, Pelsall, after police received a tip-off. West Midlands Police revealed a 23-year-old man had been arrested and bailed along with a 29-year-old woman who was also detained. Further tests and forensic examinations were being carried out on the remains.

But the force said early indications were that they were foetal rather than full-term births.

House-to-house enquiries were also being carried out in the area and police teams handed out letters designed to reassure families living near the scene of the operation.

The address at the centre of the investigation remained sealed off yesterday while cops continued an operaton to excavate the garden.

A blue tarpaulin tent was erected in the garden of the property.

Det Chief Insp Sean Phillips, who is leading the investigation, could not say how long the search would go on for.

He said: “It is uncertain whether there are any other foetal remains to be unearthed.

“But the search will continue until it is absolutely certain that everything of significance to the inquiry has been recovered.”

Residents said a woman lived at the house with four children.
