Mail traces family of Birmingham RAF hero Innis Mobley

THE Birmingham Mail has turned detective and tracked down the family of a young Birmingham-born RAF man who was shot down and killed during the Second World War.

Innis Mobley

Dutch primary school pupils asked us to help trace the relatives of sergeant Innis Mobley, who was shot down over Holland during a night raid in 1943.

The youngsters tend the grave of Sgt Mobley, and they wanted to know more about the 21-year-old from Yardley Wood.

Peter Rhebergen, a local historian from Winterswijk approached us on behalf of the pupils at the Juliana School, who place flowers at his grave on the anniversary of the crash.

Innis was the bomb aimer of a Wellington bomber crew that was taking part in a night raid on the West German city of Bochum, on May 12.
