Solihull shaken by second group of travellers

Gypsy families moving in along Monkspath Hall Road in Solihull

A MIDLAND constituency at the heart of a furore over proposed development of green belt land by gypsies has been shaken by the arrival of another group of travellers.

Twenty caravans arrived at land near Monkspath Hall Road in Solihull this week, allegedly removing security bollards to gain access to the site.

The land is adjacent to Hillfield Park and is owned by Solihull Council.

Council officers immediately set to work with police, drawing up a legal notice ordering the travellers to vacate the site or face court proceedings.

Meriden remains at the heart of a continuing standoff between travellers and homeowners over green belt land near Eaves Green Lane, where residents formed a campaign group against development.
