ALMOST a year since its discovery in a farmer’s field the Staffordshire Hoard is still attracting 1,000 visitors a day to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. The exhibition was refreshed last week with 20 new artefacts on show and better displays of existing treasures and is still proving popular.
More than 2,000 pieces of Anglo-Saxon gold were found buried near Burntwood and purchased by the Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent Museums for £3.3 million.
Now archaeologists are studying the pieces while the museum curators raise funds and put together exhibitions for the Hoard’s long-term display.
