A TEAM OF women’s rugby players are hoping to gain a bit of additional motivation this season by taking on their own personal trainer.
Birmingham City University’s Women’s Rugby Team is hoping Cooper Cunningham can help them reach the top.
Last year the squad took second place in the BUCS League Division 2B – and they are optimistic that a bit of extra help will ensure they beat off the competition to come first this season. “I think we are the only team who will have a personal trainer,” says team vice president Charlotte Flynn.
The squad, which had 16 players aged between 18 and 26 last year, is also hoping to increase its membership when the new term begins.
“I didn’t even know how to throw a ball let alone play when I joined,” says Charlotte.
“I like it because I am quite competitive and when you see everyone on the pitch and they are all a team you just want to do your best for the team.”
The team is well supported from within the university and the Students Union.
“I’ll start slowly, building confidence and strength of mind,” said personal trainer Cooper Cunningham.
“People call me Mr Transformer – and they will be transformed into lean mean rugby machines.”
