Cadbury World celebrates 20 years

“We moulded it to be what we wanted and it’s no different from the original objective, that’s what makes it so exciting and satisfying.”

His successor Gerrard Baldwin said visitor figures would reach a similar number this year.

“There’s nothing better than seeing visitors come to reception to say ‘thank you’,” he said.

“It reinforces the magic of the Cadbury brand.”

Some 86 staff were trained as “Cadbury ambassadors” and today 126 staff are employed during peak season, from February to October.

Mr Saxby, who spent a year working for Kraft in the 1950s, said despite concerns, its £11 billion takeover of Cadbury would continue the success of the venue.

“They’d be fools not to and they’re not fools,” he said.
