2010 Midnight Walk held in Birmingham for Acorns Children?s Hospice
MORE than 1,200 women took part in the female-only 2010 Midnight Walk, raising a whopping £94,000 for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
The dedicated fundraisers all joined forces as they strolled through Birmingham’s streets in the moonlight.
Sporting t-shirts emblazoned with the names of the children they loved, the walkers completed the 10km trek passing late-night revellers on their travels.
They set off on the stroke of midnight on Saturday past the Jewellery Quarter, Brindleyplace, the Town Hall and the Bullring before finishing back at Millennium Point.
Kerrie Davies, from the hospice, said: “It was an awesome night with hundreds of women, mainly in fancy dress. The £94,000 pledged is such a wonderful help. Acorns’ families really appreciated the way that everyone generously gave up their time.” The hospice needs to raise £6 million a year to provide services to almost 600 children.
