“MY name is Michael Caine”.
No introductions were needed when one of the most famous faces in the world of cinema arrived in Birmingham.
Hundreds of film buffs queued for the chance to meet the Get Carter and Italian Job star as he signed copies of his new book in the city centre.
Sir Michael, aged 77, spent two hours at the High Street branch of Waterstone’s to promote his autobiography, The Elephant To Hollywood, which charts his rise to the top from humble beginnings as a child in London’s Elephant and Castle.
Starstruck fans said they were delighted to meet a “legend”.
