A MIDLAND medic who wrote a novel between shifts has achieved a big break in Hollywood.
Audiology specialist Steve Watson, from Stourbridge, has discovered his psychological thriller is being made into a film with starlets Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett tipped for the lead.
Plus Sir Ridley Scott and Tony Scott, responsible for box office smash hits Alien and Top Gun, are producing the movie and have described the project as “really exciting”.
The 39-year-old, who studied physics at The University of Birmingham, wrote the novel Before I Go To Sleep between his shifts at London’s St Thomas’ Hospital.
Mr Watson said it was his mother who inspired his love of books.
