Shamed drunken attack anaesthetist has conditions on practise lifted

Dr John Isaac

A TOP city doctor shamed for drink driving and attacking two surgeons in a drunken assault has had a supervision order lifted on his working practises.

Consultant anaesthetist Dr John Isaac has been working under conditions for the past three years.

But in a review hearing, the General Medical Council(GMC) ruled that he could now work normally at Edgbaston’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Isaac was arrested and cautioned after he banged two medics’ heads together, forcing one to have stitches.

A GMC review panel on October 7 was informed that during a night out at a medical conference, Isaac blurted out “some surgeons need their heads knocking together” before doing just that.
