Percy Shurmer school party

PUPILS will be marking the 120th birthday of the man after whom their school is named.
Sparkbrook councillors will be attending a party and assembly from 11am at Percy Shurmer School, Longmore Street, next Thursday.
Mr Shurmer, a former MP and councillor, helped the poor throughout his life, including laying on parties for needy children. Mr Shurmer’s grandson will attend and give details about a family fund used to provide violin and cello lessons for children.
