Moseley village to get £100,000 worth of CCTV to combat crime.

MOSELEY Village is expected to get £100,000 worth of CCTV in a drive to combat crime.

Several cameras will be installed along the High Street including one in the Moseley Village car park to improve security for traders and residents, especially at night.

Councillor Martin Mullaney (Lib Dem, Moseley and Kings Heath) said: “Moseley is a safe place in general. These cameras are to stop any anti-social behaviour in the centre.

“The businesses have been asking if we could have CCTV. Mindful of being a conservation area, we are getting the cameras mounted on columns which fit into the character of the area.

“We have got the go-ahead for the money and we will now form a steering group which will include local businesses and residents.

“We will then have a public consultation exercise and are aiming to get them installed by March.”

The cameras will be linked to Birmingham City Council’s central monitoring centre.

The scheme will be funded through the Safer Birmingham Partnership.
