THE best friend of a popular teenager who was killed when his motorbike collided with a car has organised a football match in his memory to help pay for his funeral.
James Tierney, aged 19, of Jervoise Road, Weoley Castle, sustained fatal injuries following the crash near his home at 2pm on Saturday.
The teenager, also known as Jim, was found by his father, also called James, and later died surrounded by his family at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
More than 3,000 friends have joined a Facebook site expressing their grief and dozens of bouquets have been left where he died at ‘James’ tree’.
Devastated best mate Zach Lorimer has organised a football match, which will be held at midday tomorrow at Shenley Court School, where James was once a pupil.
It will cost £10 to play and there will be a collection.
All monies will go towards his funeral costs.
Mr Lorimer, aged 18, said: “I had known him since secondary school and he was like my brother.
