The police, the weed and the wardrobe - Birmingham cops uncover cannabis factory
POLICE, who noticed a Narnia-like beam of light coming from the back of a wardrobe, discovered a hidden cannabis factory above a pub in Birmingham.
In a plot worthy of classic book The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, 65 plants were being grown in a “sophisticated” set-up, with a potential yearly yield worth over 54,000.
Judge Phillip Parker QC said that it “looked a thoroughly professional job”. But, in sentencing 18-year-old Rhys McMahon to six months’ imprisonment suspended for 12 months, he said he was prepared to take the “generous” view that the teenager was a “novice in the field”.
The judge said he had also taken into account his age, and had never done anything like this before.
