Reborn Black Country brewery 'too good' to end'

THE first brew from the famous Midland Highgate Brewery is expected to hit the shops tomorrow.
Historic Highgate was “too good to let slip away,” according to new chief executive John Taylor.
Just over four months after the Walsall brewery shut with the loss off 22 jobs, new hopes of a bright future have emerged for the Sandymount Road business.
A consortium led by Mr Taylor stepped in at the end of September and was soon granted a brewer’s licence – since then they’ve been doing what they know best, producing old favourites like Davenports Original Bitter, Highgate Dark Mild and Saddlers Bitter.
And the first offerings from the new team at the 112-year-old brewery, overseen by head brewer Paran Sandhu, are expected to hit the shops tomorrow.
