Bus driver charged after Water Orton model horrifically injured in bus accident

A BUS driver has appeared in court charged with careless driving and failing to stop after an accident in which a Midland model suffered horrific injuries.

Latishia Brazier, 23, from Water Orton, Birmingham, almost died in March when she got caught underneath a bus she was trying to catch and was pulled along for 500 yards.

On Friday bus driver Kevin Parkinson, 32, appeared before magistrates in London to face charges in connection with the smash.

Last night Latishia’s family revealed that she is still suffering health problems and could lose the use of an arm.

The Braziers are considering suing a hospital which failed to spot Latishia had a dislocated shoulder.

Knife

She had to have emergency surgery to repair punctured lungs, broken ribs and a broken neck, but doctors at the London hospital where she was first treated in March did not find a major shoulder injury.

Last week Latishia was forced to go under the knife again in a gruelling 12-hour operation to try to repair her damaged arm.

Her brother Earl, 33, told the Sunday Mercury that medics at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham were amazed that such a serious injury had not been spotted earlier.

“The hospital down in London really messed up with her,” the facilities manager said.

“They failed to spot the dislocation and that means she may not be able to have full movement in her arm, which would be absolutely disgraceful.

“Obviously the surgeons have saved her life, but these nerves in her arm could be damaged for good. Even the doctors at the Queen Elizabeth said she should sue over it.”
