Hustle crew film in Birmingham Mail's former office

THE Birmingham Mail’s former office in Weaman Street was transformed into a London police station as TV show Hustle wrapped up filming on its seventh series.

Cast and crew members have spent 15 weeks in Birmingham, shooting the next instalments of the popular BBC drama which will air next January.

After the relentless schedule which has seen 12-hour days, producer Jane Hudson, aged 34, said everyone involved was looking forward to celebrating the final scene with a drink or two.

“There’s quite a festive atmosphere on set,” she said. “We’re even having a Christmas lunch today.

“Everyone’s looking forward to having a drink tonight and a lie-in on Monday morning!”

The newspaper office has been derelict ever since the Birmingham Mail decamped to Fort Dunlop in November 2008.

The windows were covered in blacked-out curtains to prevent passers-by catching a sneak preview of the plot during filming last Thursday.
