John Carew left with 'nothing to show' from £250,000 'dream car' fraud

ASTON Villa star John Carew was duped out of £250,000 by an alleged fraudster who promised him his “dream car”, a court was told.
Richard Esprit told the striker that his white Porsche Cayenne Gemballa would have “all the specifications that Jeremy Clarkson would rave about”, Birmingham Crown Court heard.
But Simon Davis, prosecuting, said Esprit’s boasts proved hollow and added: “Effectively John Carew was left with nothing to show for all the money he had paid out.”
Esprit, 43, of Staines, Middlesex, has pleaded not guilty to three charges of fraud and two of the theft of £147,500.
